Award-winning defense firm expands litigation team with strategic hire

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The McKay Firm, an award-winning defense litigation firm serving clients across the Southeast, is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Ramirez as an Associate Attorney. Ramirez will support the firm’s growing practice in government defense, Section 1983 defense, premises liability defense, and general civil defense litigation.

Before joining The McKay Firm, Ramirez served as a law clerk in the Georgia State Court system, gaining firsthand experience in trial preparation, judicial procedures, and civil litigation. He also worked in operations at Bank of America, where he developed a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and organizational risk—skills that now enhance his defense practice.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ramirez currently resides in Columbia. Ramirez earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law (2022), where he was an active member of the International Law Society. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2014), where he earned recognition on the Dean’s List. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar
